Geriatrician Questions Weight loss

My mother has been constantly losing weight. Should we be concerned?

My mother is 75 and has lost over 35 lb in the last 3 months. While her eating and activities remain the same, she is looking weaker. She has always been stubborn and is refusing to get it checked out. I am very worried. What can I do?

Any body losing weight should have a complete check up
Yes, she does need to be checked. At least basic blood work, review of medications, thyroid tests, depression, dementia, etc.
Very concerning. Needs a good evaluation, including a comprehensive physical exam and bloodwork for starters, then further testing as indicated.
Please speak to your mother's doctor. The weight loss in only 3 months is quite significant.
