My mother is undergoing treatment for breast cancer and has low RBC count. What should be done?

My mother is in the final stages of chemotherapy for her breast cancer. Although her treatment has been going on very well, her RBC count is constantly coming down. Is it normal in such treatments or is it something else?

This is a common side effect of chemotherapy. If her hemoglobin is very low (<7-8 gm/dL), she may benefit from a blood transfusion. If not, the counts should recover a few weeks after she stops the chemotherapy
Chemotherapy can cause anemia which can be treated with epogen shots. ask your treating oncologist.
