OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions Back Pain

During my period, I experience severe lower and upper back pain. Is this normal?

When I get my period, I experience a sharp pain in my lower and upper back. It usually lasts for about 2 days on and off, and over the counter pain medication such as midol and tylenol do not help. I don't know anyone else in my personal life who experience this same pain. Is this normal?

No.
Many women have painful menses and it gets better over time. You should try naproxen, two tabs twice a day during menses and if not better in several months, see your gynecologist to rule out endometriosis.
