Gastroenterologist Questions Rib pain

Should I be concerned about random attacks of severe pain under ribs?

Over the past three years I've had occasional attacks of severe pain under my rib cage. I can't stand up straight and have to lie down with my knees up. Don't think it's gallbladder because passing gas relieves it after about 30 minutes. The attacks don't seem to be tied to any certain food and they are always located in that middle area right under the ribs. Frequency is every couple of weeks or a month or so. I am 41, female, with nine children. No other health issues except prone to constipation. Should I be concerned about random attacks of severe pain under ribs?

Hard to tell what that might be. You should get examined to help diagnose the problem. It might not be a GI issue - gas pains are usually not felt in the upper abdomen. It could be a problem of the rib cage or abdominal wall.
You sound quite like IBS C, however, to be absolutely certain that this is not a more serious condition, you should definitely check this out with a Gastroenterologist.
This could be pain from constipation or possibly ulcer. I suggest you see a GI to help figure out what tests if any need to be done to determine the cause.
Yes, it may be Gallstones.

You should have a doctor EXAMINE you and maybe do some tests.
