OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions Uterine Fibroids

Is surgery the only way to treat uterine fibroids?

I've been having pelvic pain and heavy bleeding during my period. I think I have uterine fibroids. Do I need surgery or is there medication I can take? Is so, what works best?

No hormonal therapy also
Abnormal bleeding is most often due to a hormonal imbalance which can be treated by hormonal therapy. If the symptoms are significant, and they fail to respond to hormonal therapy, and sonography confirms the presence of fibroids then the options are uterine artery embolization, hysterectomy or surgical removal of fibroids; the latter only if the patient desires fertility.

Uterine artery embolisation or destruction by ultrasound are other options.
Depends on the size of your uterine fibroids. If it is less than one inch, using Chinese medicine has a good result.
First of all, it depends on the size of the fibroids, and then options are OCPs, depo, and sometimes you can proceed with uterine artery embolization, but this option is only good for patients who do not want children, so you should get a sonogram of your fibroids and see your ob/gyn for options.
