Dermatologist Questions Sunburn

What is the best remedy for sunburn?

I am extremely sensitive to the sun and my skin burns with even the slightest sun exposure. How can I best treat my skin?

A wound healing cream and prevention
The best thing to do is to stay out of the sun. You can use sun-protective clothing when going into the sun. Physical sunblock is best, zinc or titanium dioxide. Antihistamines such as allegra, zyrtec, or claritin will help before going into the sun. A product called Heliocare can be taken ahead of time to help prevent sunburn as well. If you do get sunburned, taking aspirin immediately does help calm it down. Topical aloe can also be beneficial.

Check what other medications you are taking first. Some meds cause sensitivity to the sun. See a dermatologist if you are serious about avoiding skin cancer.
