I would try meds, PT, injection, new mattress before seeking surgical treatment.
Always try everything else before surgery... chiropractic, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, cortisone, etc. Least invasive to most invasive.
Not necessarily. Most likely she would benefit from a trial of physical therapy or possibly steroid injections before surgery is considered.
Only an exam and X-rays could tell
It could be, but surgery is always the last resort after medications, physical therapy, and injections to oversimplify. The are a huge number of back pain causes which don't require surgery. An evaluation by her primary physician is a great way to start.
Good luck.
Surgery may be necessary but I would first try a more conservative approach like Chiropractic or physical therapy for a few months.
Surgery should always be the absolute last resort. PT, acupuncture, chiropractic, there are many things to try before surgery. Surgeries success rate is very low for long term help, unless everything else has been tried and it's the last option.
I would try other options first, but she an accurate diagnosis as to the cause of the pain. Physical therapy, brace wear, and injections are options if she doesn’t have a fracture or tumor.
