Gastroenterologist Questions Gas

I have too much gas and I fart a lot. Is there a way to treat this?

I am 35 years old and I am suffering from a lot of gas which leads to constant farting. I have tried various natural home remedies, but nothing seems to be helping. Is this something I should be concerned about? Is there a way to treat this?

Nearly all gas produced in the bowel happens in the colon. It is produced by the bacteria that break down our undigested foods. So most flatulence occurs due to undigested carbohydrates. Try the Llow FODMAP diet to reduce gas. Not a major concern.
Hi. Excessive intestinal gas can arise from multiple conditions. If you’re in otherwise good health, then it may be likely that your diet is responsible for your symptoms. Some foods are more ‘gassy’ like beans, broccoli, cabbage, etc. If that’s a large part of your diet, then you may try taking Beano before meals containing these food items. Or you may try Lactaid before consuming dairy. If these don’t work, or if you have other symptoms associated, then please seek medical advice.
