I am a 25 year old female. I want to get the birth control implant. What are the disadvantages of a birth control implant?

You might get some of the mild symptoms of pregnancy. It may also raise your cholesterol. More serious, but less common is blood clots or pulmonary embolisms, especially if you smoke.
It depends upon which implants you're talking about. The arm implant has abnormal bleeding about 15 to 30% of the time. The IUD implant has issues with cramping. Initial placement can be painful as well.
