OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions Vaginal pain

What causes vaginal pain?

I have dull pain around my vagina, and it's a little concerning. I'm not sure what's causing it at all. I'm 25 years old. What could be causing this pain?

It could be from an improper pelvic alignment. Visit a chriopractor
You should see a gynecologist to rule out any infection.
Could be a herpes viral infection.
Pain around the vagina without sexual intercourse could be due to:

1)     Pelvic floor dysfunction where the pelvic floor muscles are in a continuous state of spasm as a result of painful stimulation or because of fibromyalgia.

2)    Pelvic congestion syndrome where the venous circulation in the pelvis is stagnant and the veins are engorged and form varicosities. This can result from a sedentary lifestyle, chronic constipation or sexual dissatisfaction.

3)    Endometriosis in the recto-vaginal septum can cause a sharp pain to worsen with periods & during sex.

4)    Pain with chronic pelvic infection, pelvic abscess and Crohn’s disease of the rectum can also be felt around or behind the vagina

Vaginal pain could be caused by any number of things from birth control pills causing some dryness to trauma from sex. Try using something like OTC Luvena in your vagina three times a week at bedtime and refrain from sex for 2 weeks and see if it does not resolve. If not, you need to have your gynecologist examine you to evaluate what the problem may be.
