Mayo clinic has great patient information about Menieres disease. But I doubt your son has been diagnosed correctly. Your son needs a full audiogram performed by an audiologist. to have Meniere's the patient needs to have low frequency sensorineural hearing loss, possibly asymmetric, complain of ear fullness, vertiginous episodes lasting for hours, ad tinnitus. Menieres is a diagnose of exclusion, meaning there are many other things that should be ruled out first.
Hello,

Meniere's Disease is a disregulation of the inner ear due to change in ion concentration or volume of the inner ear fluid. It can lead to periods of imbalance with rotatory vertigo or spinning, ear fullness, low-pitch hearing loss that is transient, and ear ringing or tinnitus.

Ménière's disease is described as a clinical condition characterized by endolymphatic hydrops.
Clinical signs and symptoms include episodes of disabling dizziness and vertigo characterized as a spinning sensation with prostration associated sometimes with nausea and emesis. Usually there is associated fluctuation of the hearing with diminished hearing in the associated ear along with loud ringing in the ear and a sensation of ear pressure.
These episodes may last several hours and then dissipate as the fluid pressure is released. Characteristically this is a problem in adults, sometimes secondary to the overproduction or lack of elimination of inner ear fluids. Treatment is usually symptomatic with sedation and antihistamine therapy such as meclizine. Hearing testing is highly recommended and follow up with otolaryngology is also recommended as well.
Inner ear fluid imbalance. Too much fluid. Unusual in a child however. Menieres disease is characterized by episodic symptoms, treatment and testing of diagnosis after careful history is trial of diuretic. Given his age and if it isn't episodic consider viral infection of balance nerve.
Endolymophatic hydrops. Too much fluid in the inner ear which causes hearing loss, vertigo, and tinnitus. Vertiginous migraine more common in the age group.
