What is the difference between plastic and cosmetic surgery?

I want to know, what is the difference between plastic and cosmetic surgery? Why are these terms used so inter-changeably?

Plastic surgery includes beauty surgery, and reconstructive surgery from congenital issues, trauma, burns or injuries. Cosmetic surgery is solely beauty surgery. If you have any further questions or inquiries please visit my website at Drroya.com. Good luck!
There are many practitioners out there claiming to be experts in “cosmetic surgery”, without any form of legitimate training.

The American Board of Plastic Surgery is the only specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, which also recognizes appropriate training within legitimate medical specialties like cardiology and internal medicine.

You can verify your surgeon’s credentials on the website of the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Another way to verify qualification is to ask your perspective surgeon if he or she has the credentials to perform your procedure at a local hospital. You can then check with the medical staff office at that hospital to verify this information. Good luck
The term "Plastic Surgery" is derived from the Greek root “Plastikos,” meaning to mold or shape. The specialty of Plastic Surgery is divided into reconstructive surgery and aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery. Although some Plastic Surgeons perform more procedures in one category or the other, a properly trained Plastic Surgeon is competent in both of these forms of surgery.
Plastic includes reconstructive surgery, cosmetic surgery - it's to improve looks. They are pretty much interchangeable.
