What machines are used to look for cancerous growths?

I am 42-years-old and I am going to have a mammogram in a few weeks. I would like to know what other machines can detect tumors?

Thank you for your question. Other machines include the ultrasound and the MRI. For metastatic disease, a CT scanner can be used.
For the breast mammography and US are the primary imaging modalities. MRI is used for high risk patients. If breast cancer is diagnosed, imaging for metastatic disease may be performed with CT or PET CT. Imaging for metastatic disease to the brain or spine is best done with MRI.
MRI is the gold standard for breast cancer.
