Prevention is the best treatment for white heads. White heads are an accumulation of sebum produced by the oil gland. Osmic acid when exposed to air turns black, thus the name black head versus white head. The deeper pathology in latter. Control the oil secretion of the skin by salicylic acid and other washes and avoid lots of applied cosmetics or creams.
See a dermatologist and get these removed with a sharp instrument. Need not be painful.
Retinoid products (Differin, Retin A, Tazorac) work well for this type of acne. Differin acne gel is OTC and may take a couple months to work. If not helpful see a board certified dermatologist to treat you.
Best treatment is probably surgical, but you'll need to see a dermatologist.
I love prescription-strength topical retinoids for whiteheads, and for a quick fix, I do extractions in office!
