  • Why does a chiropractor crack your neck?

A chiropractor adjusts your neck if there are vertebrae stuck out of place impinging on nerves. The cracking sound is made from the air between the joints moves from one area to another as the vertebrae moves into the correct position. READ MORE

  • How do I stop my shoulder from hurting when I sleep?

If you have shoulder pain when you sleep, it indicates there is inflammation around that area and most likely some imbalance or nerve irritation. During the day ,you can do corrective exercises for the shoulder and ice pack therapy especially before bedtime. When you go to bed, try using pillows placed strategically under your upper back and neck to give support. Try not to sleep on the painful side and if you do, put more wait on your upper back and less on the shoulder joint. In other words, bring your arm all the way through so the back of the shoulder is on the bed and not the front or side. READ MORE

  • What does a chiropractor do on the first visit?

On the first visit, the chiropractor will take a detailed history and talk to you about your complaints. They will then examine you and either treat you after explaining what’s going or schedule a report of findings visit to go over everything in detail what is going on and what the treatment plan is to correct your problem. Each chiropractor has their own way of doing things, but ultimately you should expect excellent care. READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help a dislocated rib?

A chiropractor can correct a subluxated rib which is a degree less than a dislocation. By careful manipulation a subluxated rib can be put back into its normal position. A dislocation might require additional therapy and treatment. In either case, it would be beneficial to apply ice therapy, a period of rest, and then corrective exercises. READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help with carpal tunnel?

Yes. Chiropractors can help with carpal tunnel syndrome. Most chiropractors adjust extremities in addition to the spine and pelvis. Carpal tunnel involves the small bones of the wrist and sometimes the elbow. In addition to adjusting those bones the chiropractor can recommend wrist support and nutritional supplements to assist the healing process. READ MORE

  • How do you know if your back is out of alignment?

Most people have no idea if their back is out of alignment. Once you have been adjusting and balanced by a chiropractor you become more aware of your body and you can usually tell when you are out of alignment. But chiropractors can feel your spine and determine where you may need an adjustment. READ MORE

  • How do you self align your hips?

  • Should I see a chiropractor for leg pain?

You have leg pain, but should you see a chiropractor for scoliosis? No. You should see a chiropractor for pelvis and spine balance and possibly your leg pain will improve and over extended period of proper corrective care your scoliosis may improve. The two issues may or may not be related but you should be clear as to what your expectations are and for what exactly you are going to the chiropractor for. READ MORE

  • How do you get instant relief from neck pain?

Go see your chiropractor. They will fix your neck issue with a chiropractic adjustment and most likely you’ll have immediate relief from pain, though of course nothing is guaranteed. You might want to also try ice packs to the painful areas. READ MORE

  • What causes a stiff neck all of a sudden?

There can be many reasons for sudden onset of stiff neck. For example: You are hot and sweaty, you have a fan or A/C blowing air on your neck. Your neck muscles tighten and go into spam. The vertebra get locked. Your neck is stiff. You are sleeping in a different position with a different pillow. Your vertebra get fixated or locked and you wake up with a stiff neck. You are playing a sport ie rugby or tennis. You make a sudden jerky move with your neck and your vertebra get fixated and locked up like that. So, either the muscles in the neck are strained which lock up the cervical spine or the vertebra in the spine get fixated or locked and the neck is stiff. Chiropractic is the best solution to fix this situation. Dr. Steven I. Brown READ MORE

  • What happens if you let a herniated disc go untreated?

A herniated disc left untreated will do one of three things: It will get better on its own, it will get worse and rupture through the neural canal, or it will stay the same and not improve or worsen. The best approach is a conservative treatment plan including non force or light force manipulative therapy, adjunctive physical therapy, and corrective exercises/strengthening the core. A more drastic measure would be surgery if the condition worsens and it becomes a disability. READ MORE

  • Can stretching alleviate your spinal pain?

Stretching can help the surrounding muscles of the spine. It’s certainly possible to help with some spinal pain but most likely you would need some additional therapy. Chiropractic spinal adjustments are perfectly suited for back pain. The paraspinal muscles are deep between the vertebrae and stretching does not really get to those muscles directly. READ MORE

  • Can chiropractic care help bursitis in the shoulder?

Most chiropractors have experience dealing with shoulder bursitis. There are corrective exercises and particular treatments that are effective. I would recommend that you call or investigate a particular chiropractic doctor to see if that is within their repertoire of care. READ MORE

  • Can chiropractic care help shoulder tendonitis?

Chiropractic is mostly concerned with the spine and not shoulder tendinitis but most chiropractors know how to work with that issue. I’d suggest you call before making an appointment and ask if they are comfortable treating shoulder tendinitis. In the meantime try ice therapy and corrective exercises and see if that helps. • Should I exercise with lower back pain?

If you have acute low back pain in the first week or so, it would be more beneficial to rest, ice, and do gentle light stretching exercises. After a week or so, begin to increase your exercise level, being mindful of your pain level. A good start would be three 20min walks/day. If you continue to improve, then you continue to exercise and use your best judgment in what your body can tolerate. Don’t overdo it and you should be fine. READ MORE

  • Sharp upper back pain?

I’d recommend trying shoulder/upper back stretches, ice pack therapy, and warm bath with epsom salt. If it doesn’t improve, go see a chiropractor for an evaluation. READ MORE

  • How does scoliosis affect the body?

There are different degrees of scoliosis so it depends on the severity of the curvature in how much it effects the body. Most scoliosis patients in their late 20’s/ early 30’s have an S shaped curvature where the curve goes one way in the lower part of the spine and the other way above. Therefore the body is actually very strong and balanced. Since the majority of scoliosis conditions are inherited from parents or grandparents, most people are not adversely effected. Just be aware of your posture and maintain chiropractic care and your body will adapt well to your spinal condition. READ MORE

  • Can chiropractic care help with baby reflux?

That’s a tricky question to answer because pediatric chiropractic is a specialty all to itself for the most part. I would suggest that you see a chiropractor who is comfortable and experienced treating infants under a year old. Reflux is common in infants and oftentimes a gentle manipulation can fix the problem. If you are nursing, you should be aware that certain foods and medications pass into the breast milk and can cause that problem as well. READ MORE
