Hi, I'm Michael Acquista DDS. I got my dental degree from Columbia School of Dental & Oral Surgery and have been in private practice in Bay Ridge for over 30 years. My office is small and you will receive individual attention. I offer the best ways to prevent tooth decay and gum disease, the best Cosmetic Dentistry and esthetics, filling materials, crowns, bridges, implant restorations and dentures. I promise I will exceed your expectations and do everything possible to explain your conditions and treatment options as well as being gentle and thorough. We perform all dental procedures except Orthodontics, complex extractions and surgery, but I will refer you to the finest specialists if need be.

Which mouthwash is best for removing plaque?
Brush your teeth with toothpaste and you can reach all of the plaque that the mouthwash would reach. But to remove the rest of the plaque, you need to use dental floss. READ MORE
Does Invisalign weaken teeth?
If orthodontics is done properly and you follow directions, you should be fine. If not, you might get extra tooth decay and/or bone loss around teeth. READ MORE

Yes, they can look very natural. Look at the set up of the teeth before processing, if possible. READ MORE
What percentage of an overbite do you need to get braces?
Overbite is not measured as a percentage. The indications for orthodontic therapy are complex. The doctor should tell you the pros and cons of getting or not getting treatment. Can you wear a retainer with veneers?

Is a dental implant better than a bridge?
Yes, an Implant is best. Preserves surrounding bone does not decay, surrounding teeth are not altered, easy to floss. READ MORE
What should I do after a gum graft surgery?
This should be discussed with the doctor performing the surgery. Make sure you understand all dos and don'ts before the surgery. This is part of legally required informed consent. READ MORE
How can I get rid of gingivitis at home?
Floss correctly every day and stop eating sugary foods, limit carbs, and starchy foods. READ MORE
Do permanent dentures fit better than immediate dentures?
Immediate dentures are placed the same day as teeth are extracted. The area around the extraction socket shrinks as it heals for at least 6-8 weeks. Then, the denture does not fit as well and the area is relined with denture material to fill in the area that shrank. After reline, it fits the same as permanent dentures. READ MORE
