  • Is it okay to have breathing problems after pneumonia?

    It is not OK, but it is common to have some SOB, cough, phlegm, fatigue, sometimes wheezing after a pneumonia. There has been an infection in the lung and damage has occurred. Like any damage, it takes time to heal, even with appropriate and successful treatment. Any changes on an x-ray may be seen for up to 6 weeks following successful treatment which matches typical soft tissue healing times.
