Dr. Brainard is an orthopaedist serving Phoenix and the surrounding communities with Carl T. Hayden Veterans Medical Center. The Phoenix VA Health Care System proudly serves Veterans in central Arizona at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center and nine community-based outpatient VA clinics.

In regards to his education, Dr. Brainard earned his Medical Degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1961. He went on to complete an internship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Letterman Army Medical Center, Children’s Rehab Service, Ireland Army Community Hospital, and Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. 

To stay up to date in his field, Dr. Brainard maintains a professional membership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). The AAOS is the preeminent provider of musculoskeletal education to orthopaedic surgeons and others in the world. Its continuing medical education activities include a world-renowned Annual Meeting, multiple CME courses held around the country and at the Orthopaedic Learning Center, and various medical and scientific publications and electronic media materials.
