A 1977-graduate of the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Stone completed a general surgery residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (1979), followed by a residency in orthopedic surgery at Newyork Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center (1983). Furthermore, he is fellowship-trained in adult reconstructive orthopedics through Newyork Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center.

Subsequent to his training, Dr. Stone attained board certification in orthopedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. It is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Orthopaedic surgery or orthopaedics, is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases and congenital disorders.

Dr. Stone is licensed to practice in the state of Florida and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
