A 1975 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Dr. Goldberg performed his internship and residency at the University of Illinois. Subsequently, he pursued advanced training in gastroenterology at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Goldberg has held esteemed positions, including serving as a former Governor of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association as well as the former Chief of Gastroenterology and Vice Chairman of Medicine at Northshore University Healthcare. Additionally, he was on staff at the University of Illinois and the University of Chicago, teaching countless medical students, residents, and fellows. 

Board certified in gastroenterology, Dr. Goldberg is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

On a professional level, Dr. Goldberg is an active member of the American College of Physician Executives, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (Fellow).
