Get to know Internist Dr. Joseph A. Rizzo, who serves patients in New Jersey.

Dr. Rizzo, a skilled internist, diagnoses and treats a wide range of conditions in adults, often serving as a patient’s primary care provider. Licensed to practice medicine in New Jersey, he is affiliated with Englewood Hospital and Holy Name Medical Center.

A part of Englewood Health, Englewood Hospital is an acute care 289-bed teaching hospital in Englewood, New Jersey. Its mission is “To provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art patient services; emphasize caring and other human values in the treatment of patients and in relations with their families, and among employees, medical staff, and community; be a center of education and research; and provide employees and medical staff with maximum opportunities to achieve their personal and professional goals.”

Holy Name Medical Center is a comprehensive 361-bed acute care facility, which provides technologically advanced, compassionate, and personalized care across a continuum that encompasses education, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and wellness maintenance. The Medical Center, located in Teaneck, New Jersey has nearly 4,000 employees and admits about 30,000 patients each year.

A 1986 graduate of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Dr. Rizzo went on to perform his residency in internal medicine at Englewood Hospital in 1989.

Working towards better health, he is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.
