Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Maguina graduated with his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He served as an Associate Professor at the University of California, Davis for 12 years and continues to provide surgeries at Shriners Hospital for Children. He has published dozens of scientific articles and book chapters, and is a member of the editorial board and reviewer of plastic surgery publications.
Having given over 100 lectures on plastic surgery both nationally and internationally, the doctor is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.
