Get to know Internist Dr. Gamil S. Kostandy, who serves patients in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Kostandy is a well-versed internist who sees patients at his private practice, Gamil Kostandy Physician PC, located in Brooklyn, New York.

Patients visiting him can receive a full range of medical services. He provides general consultations and annual physical examinations, as well as treatment for issues including abscess, emphysema, hearing problems and diabetes

Originally from Egypt, Dr. Kostandy graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ain Shams University in 1975, and his medical degree from Ain Shams University, Faculty of Medicine in 1981. He stayed at the university to complete a rotating internship, after which he relocated to the United States to continue his medical education. 

There, he performed an internship at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado and a residency program at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Kostandy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), the doctor is also an active member of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, the American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Medical Association, the New York State Society for Internal Medicine, and the American Federation for Medical Research.

Among his other positions, Dr. Kostandy serves as an Assistant Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.
