An established emergency physician, Dr. Bedolla is the National Director of Risk at US Acute Care Solutions (USACS). He previously served as Medical Director of risk management at Emergency Service Partners, now USACS South. His background includes extensive experience in peer review, state medical boards, and litigation.

 

The doctor’s clinical interests are in general emergency medicine with a focus on risk reduction through critical thinking and evidence-based decision-making. His interest in evidence-based decision-making have taken him to multiple research areas, including Grand Prix motorcycle racing, NIH sponsored head injury trials, cardiac arrests, cycling injuries, CT utilization, aortic dissections, diagnosis and treatment of hemostatic disorders, and imaging utilization.

 

Academically, he holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Plan II Honors program at The University of Texas at Austin. He earned his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and then completed two years of categorical general surgery training before switching to emergency medicine, which he completed at St. Luke's Roosevelt Medical Center in New York City.

 

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

 

Maintaining fellowship status, Dr. Bedolla is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP), and Fellow of the Texas Leadership and Advocacy Program of the Texas College of Emergency Physicians (FTCEP).

 

On a professional level, he is an active member of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, the Society for Medical Decision Making, the American Stroke Society, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, and the International Council of Motorsports Sciences.

 

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Bedolla has served in many leadership roles including as Medical Student Clerkship Director, Hospital Chief of Staff, Morbidity and Mortality Director, Peer Review Director and Physician Liaison for a state medical board. He is also the Creator and Director of SafetyCore, an evidence-based medical risk reduction program.

 

Active in academia, he serves as the Assistant Director of Research Education and Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas, specializing in statistics, basic science, clinical skills and mechanisms of disease.. He was most recently a Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and faculty at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

 

Serving in both academic and community practice for the majority of his career, his academic interests are motorsports, rare catastrophic and unpredictable medical events, terrorist organization medical infrastructure, clinical pathway design and implementation, medical education, film and medicine, narrative medicine.

 

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.

 

On a more personal note, Dr. Bedolla has two children. His hobbies include classical history, filmmaking and outdoor activities. He works one day a week on a ranch in Red Rock, Texas.
