Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. Manuel Colon Mendez, who serves patients in Kissimmee, Florida.

A devoted emergency physician, Dr. Mendez tends to patients at the Emergency Room at AdventHealth Kissimmee.

Before embarking on his professional journey, he obtained his medical degree from the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla in Mexico in 1979. He then went on to complete his residency and fellowship in emergency medicine at the University Hospital of Puerto Rico.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in emergency medicine through the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional, and examination standards.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.
