No stranger to administration and teaching, Dr. Masry has also held positions at medical centers and colleges, including Chief of Psychiatry at Ancora State Hospital, Medical Director at Victory Bay Recovery Center, and Adjust Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Cairo Faculty of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt. Upon relocating to the United States, Dr. Masry completed his residency at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, followed by his fellowship training in addictions at the Robert Johnson Wood Foundation in Princeton, New Jersey.
Thereafter, he became board-certified in both psychiatry and addiction psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Masry remains a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
Addiction psychiatry is a medical subspecialty within psychiatry that focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of people who are suffering from one or more disorders related to addiction. This may include disorders involving legal and illegal drugs, gambling, sex, food, and other impulse control disorders. As an addiction psychiatrist, Dr. Masry is trained to fully understand the biological science behind addiction in order to properly treat each patient.

Allen Y. Masry, MD, FAPA, DAAAP, attended the Faculty of Medicine Kasr Alainy at Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt, and was awarded his medical degree in 1997. He moved to the United States where he trained at Tufts University School of Medicine/Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Massachusetts, during his psychiatry residency, and at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, for his addiction psychiatry fellowship. Board certified in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Masry keeps current in the latest developments, guidelines, and procedures in the psychiatry arena through memberships and affiliations with several professional societies and associations, such as the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute.
