Dr. Perera is a board certified psychiatrist, recognized as a thought leader and expert in psychopharmacology. Additionally, Dr. Perera is world renowned in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). He is the founding president of the Clinical TMS Society, and the first author of the International TMS guidelines. Dr. Perera is a seasoned expert in treating depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, insomnia, and ADD, among other mental health conditions. Since 2007, he is annually rated one of the Best Psychiatrists in America with proud consistently. Dr. Perera is the Founder and Clinical Director of Contemporary Care, with offices in Greenwich CT, Danbury CT, and Manhattan, NY. Additional TMS locations are in Fairfield, Hamden, and Stamford, CT, Manhasset, Planview, Long Island, and Ludlow, MA. He received his training at Harvard Medical School and completed his residency at Columbia University and the NY State Psychiatric Institute. He was a research fellow and faculty member at Columbia where he conducted studies on the biology of depression. He has received several grants, awards and has authored many publications. He frequently conducts lectures for other physicians in medication management. In addition, he is an instructor at Columbia's ECT and TMS course. Dr. Perera is now focused on merging his work with the legacy of Dr. Anton Fry, whom he has worked with for the past 18 years to bring comprehensive contemporary solutions to mental health.
