A native of Brazil, Dr. Hexsel earned her medical degree from the University of Passo Fundo in 2004. Upon relocating to the United States, she completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan. She went on to complete a fellowship in cosmetic dermatology at the Hexsel Dermatology Clinics in Brazil in 2012, and completed a fellowship in Mohs surgery and oncology at Methodist Hospital.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), she is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, which is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
Among her professional affiliations, she is an active member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the International Society of Dermatologic Surgery. She has published and presented on dermatology and dermatologic surgery-related topics nationally and internationally.
Active in academia, Dr. Hexsel serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
