    Jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) is pretty variable in operative times depending on the team. In our practice lower jaw surgery typically takes about 45 to 50 minutes, start to finish.     It depends on the treatment plan. In our practice most single jaw procedures are done as outpatient surgeries and patients will typically go home the same day. With surgery in both upper and lower jaw, it is more common for the patient or family to elect to spend the night and go home in the morning. Many “outpatient” facilities offer an overnight stay.   • How long does novocaine last after wisdom tooth removal?
