He is responsible for the daily supervision of primary medical care services, as well as represents the clinical component in special programs and projects for the effective integration of patient services across all departments in clinical operations.
An expert in medical policy, pediatrics, medical informatics, and project management, Dr. Polk received his Doctor of Medicine from Meharry Medical College (Nashville, TN) and both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Jackson State University (Jackson, MS). He also received Health Information Technology (HIT) Certification in October 2016.
Polk has served in diverse sectors, public and private, of the healthcare and medical industry. Prior to his appointment at DCHC, Dr. Polk has served as Director and Pediatrician for School-based Health Centers at the Henry Ford Medical Group, Medical Consultant in the Medical Policy Division for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and staff physician in the Department of Pediatrics at St. John Riverview Hospital. In the public health arena he has served as Medical Director of the Detroit Primary Care Network for the City of Detroit Department of Health. Dr. Polk has received an academic appointment at Wayne State University as Assistant Professor and Clinical Educator in the Department of Pediatrics
