The staff of Infectious Diseases are dedicated to evaluating and managing many acute, chronic and recurrent infectious diseases. In addition, an on-site social worker helps patients deal with the impact of their diseases. Infectious Disease provides diagnosis and treatment of all acute, chronic and recurrent infectious diseases, including: inpatient and outpatient infectious disease consultation, HIV infections, lyme disease, hepatitis B and C, outpatient intravenous antibiotic therapy, travel medicine, sexually transmitted diseases, immunodeficiency syndromes and viral diseases, chronic infections (including osteomyelitis), and fevers of unknown origin.

“I enjoy practicing infectious disease medicine because I get to see a variety of cases across all medical and surgical specialties. My interests include the overuse of antibiotics and how it relates to antibiotic resistance – I work hard not to add to this problem by overprescribing antibiotics. Additionally, I like treating a variety of infections, particularly fungal infections and HIV. Dedicated and calming, I care greatly about helping my patients get the best possible health care” expressed Dr. Peglow.

She always digs to find the right diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. She has a laid-back approach, which can help during stressful or difficult times. She is also proud to provide culturally sensitive care to diverse communities, including LGBTQIA individuals, refugees, and immigrants.

Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Peglow graduated with her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 2008. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2011, followed by her fellowship in infectious disease at Rush University Medical Center in 2013.

A member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, she is board-certified in infectious disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

“I became an infectious disease doctor to help others in their time of need. I’m also fascinated by the microbes, both causing disease and helping us stay healthy, that live within and around us” as stated by Dr. Peglow.

Infectious disease is a medical specialty dealing with prevention, the diagnosis, and treatment of infections. An infectious disease specialist’s practice also consists of managing nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections.

When she is not working, Dr. Peglow enjoys watching her gorgeous son grow, doing pilates, walking, hiking, trying out new recipes, and traveling. In particular, she loves visiting national parks throughout the United States. Her favorite thing about living in Minnesota is the winter – she loves snow.
