Muhammad Ansari, MD

Cardiologist

Dr. Muhammad Jaffer Ansari practices Interventional Cardiology in St. Charles, Missouri.  Dr. Ansari performs, coronary angiography, percuteanous coronary interventions (stents in heart arteries), treats holes in the  heart called, Atrial Septal Defects (ASDs), PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale), and Transcatheterarotic Valve replacments (TAVR) which is replacing artificial heart valves without open heart surgery. He uses advanced techniques such as coronray imaging with Intracardiac ecohcardiography (ICE) for structural heart procedurs, and Intravascular Imaging (IVUS) and OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) for optmization of results. He treats pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs) with invasvie options, and takes care of blockages in the legs also. He has special interest in preventative cardiology, lipid management, invasive management of resistant hypertension, and heart failure. He has strong interest in imaging modalities for diagnostic purposes to improve clinical outcomes. In the erlm of preventative cardiology, he is using a variety of AI generated algorithms  with coronary calcium score in addition to stardard predictive tools to predict risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks. He has interest in lipid managment, and keeps uptodate with the currenet lipid guidelines to provide the most uptodate and state of art care to all his patients. He provides a complete, holistic care to all his patients and cherishes this strong and trust bond with the patients from all walks of life.

The use of radioactive dye enhances the sensitivity of the test. In simple words, it has good predictive value to pick up disease. The regular treadmill test is not very accurate, especially in women. Therefore we, rely on imaging in the form of radioactive dye (Tc) commonly used, or echocardiography to increase the yield of detection of coronary artery disease.

Nuclear stress testing is one of the modalities to assess for any blocked heart arteries. It can be performed when a patient walks on the treadmill or with the medication, called pharmacological stress test. The Nuclear stress test will not show us the percentage of blockage , but will qualitatively tells us if the area of heart muscle getting reduced blood supply, if it is mildly, moderately or severely reduced. Based on the extent of blockage, we (cardiologists) perform invasive coronary angiography based on symptoms and extent of blockages detected on those imaging techniques.
