Dr. Sigmund Hsu is a board-certified neurologist & neuro-oncologist who treats patients at UTHealth Houston Neurosciences located in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Sigmund Hsu is a fellowship-trained neurologist, board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with a focus on neurological disorders in cancer patients. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University. Dr. Hsu completed his internship at the Hospital of St. Raphael, Yale University, earning the Medical Intern of the Year award in 1996. His residency was at Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he trained under Drs. Fred Plum and Jerome Posner. He further specialized with a neuro-oncology fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Sigmund Hsu specializes in primary brain tumors, brain and spinal cord metastases, cancer neurology, and chemotherapy neurotoxicity. Before joining UTHealth Houston, he was an assistant professor of neuro-oncology and the neurology residency program director at MD Anderson. He is a charter member of the Brain Tumor Network and served as the medical director for Run for the Rose from 2005 to 2007. Dr. Hsu has presented research at national conferences and has numerous publications in journals and textbooks. His recent research includes novel therapies for recurrent primary CNS lymphoma and glioblastoma multiforme, as well as intralumbar injections for cancer therapy, with several patents granted and pending. Board-certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Hsu is also an Assistant Professor in the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery at McGovern Medical School. His commitment to advancing treatment options and his advocacy for patients are evident through his research, teaching, and involvement in professional organizations.
