Acne on the buttocks is caused by the same things that cause acne on the face. But (no pun intended), friction and sweat are bigger contributors to acne in this area as compared to other areas. Sitting all day long provides friction and occlusion. This increases your acne. A lot of time what we think is acne on the bottom is actually an irritation/mild infection of the hair follicles called folliculitis. Regardless, we often treat acne on the butt in much the same way as acne on other areas.

They do not really "remove" blackheads but they can take the dark material out of the area - that is why you have to use them fairly often.

Lasers are great for treating the underlying big blood vessels that rosacea produces over years. However, I always think that prevention is better than cure. So, if we can prevent the big blood vessels from forming in the first place with diet, lifestyle choices, sunscreen, and perhaps medications, then we might not ever need a laser.

Lips usually peel because they are dry or unnecessarily irritated. Dry lips can happen from a number of causes from it being dry outside, to internal medical conditions, to using the wrong products, to licking your lips, to a whole host of other causes. Use a good lip balm if you have dry peeling lips but please go to the Environmental Working Group's website, http://www.ewg.org, first to make sure what you are using is not toxic. The horrible ingredients that are in most lipsticks and lip balms should never be put on your body, let alone your lips because whatever you put on your lips you are ingesting. If this does not work, see your local dermatologist for help.

Thank you for the question! Accutane does NOT remove scars. But what it does do is hopefully stop the acne lesions from forming that produce the scars. If we can stop the underlying process, hopefully we can prevent more scars from forming. If you are looking for things to help with the scars, after your acne is well controlled AND you have been off of Accutane for 1 year you can talk to your local Dermatologist about products and procedures that can be used to lessen the scars appearance.

Thank you for the question.
Basal Cell Cancers are the least aggressive of all cancers and because they have a low potential to spread internally most Dermatologist including myself do not routinely give them a "Stage." With that said, a Stage I Basal Cell Cancer likely means that it is relatively small and relatively superficial even though it does have some depth into the middle portion of the skin (the dermis). If the cancer gets much bigger (for example over 2cm wide) or much deeper (for example into the subcutaneous fat or spreading internally), it would progress to higher Stages. It sounds like your mother-in-law has a fairly routine cancer that needs treatment and knowledge on how to prepare for treatment as well as how to prevent further cancers from forming.
Please look at our videos on Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer, to include Basal Cell Cancer, as well as the treatment videos that go along with this topic on our YouTube channel "Your Health University" so that you can get further information and hopefully alleviate some anxiety for you and your mother-in-law. Knowledge has an amazing way of quelling anxiety and helping you get the treatment you need.
