Anatomical pathology is the part division of pathology which deal with any tissue taken out of you body. i. e. biopsies, any part of the body, organs such as liver, pancreas , gallbladder as well as other organs. The pathologist review the tissue for anomalies cut and slides the specimen, then, prepare and stain the cells to be read in the microscope for a definitive diagnosis including the differential diagnosis of whatever tissue was sent to be analyzed. Our report contain the diagnosis plus a differential diagnosis note to your doctor or the doctors who sent the tissue to the laboratory. It is important to know that the process of diagnosis is extremely variable based on the findings. Sometimes, the diagnosis is straight forward, however, most of the time this is further from the truth. Different staining of the cells need to be achieve in the differential diagnosis. The other part of pathology is the clinical laboratory which is body fluids. This includes but not limited to blood, urine, mucus as well as the type of fluid. All these results goes directly to the doctor who ordered the test, based on the clinical presentation and the Pathology is the one giving your doctor the final diagnosis. A pathologist is a Dr. who after medical school, study five additional years in a residency program to be pathology. Most pathologists do one or two fellowship in different sub-specialties, meaning one or two additional years of studies. The pathologists is the doctor behind the doctor. Pathology is the pillar of medicine as well as any specialty in Medicine. Laboratory results are greatly dependent on the findings and how the quest for the diagnosis evolve.
