Dr. Katie S. Artz treats patients at Southwestern Surgery Associates in Tucson, AZ. She has eleven years of experience in her field. As a general surgeon, Dr. Artz is responsible for the preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of patients with a broad spectrum of diseases. Dr. Artz has specialized surgical techniques in advanced laparoscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and robotic assisted surgery. She treats a variety of conditions including anorectal disease, appendicitis, diverticulitis, fissure, fistula, hemorrhoids, hernia repair, abscesses, body cysts, body lesions, among others. To stay up-to-date in her field, Dr. Artz remains a professional member of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Artz participates in medical missions to Bolivia and Honduras. She also volunteers at St. Elizabeth’s Health Center whose clinic focuses on treatment and care for the uninsured and the underserved. Dr. Artz shares her love of medicine as she mentors high school students that are aspiring to become doctors and surgeons in both the Tucson and Vail school districts. As an associate professor at the University of Arizona, she teaches medical students on the path to becoming physicians. When she is not caring for patients, Dr. Artz enjoys volunteering, watching movies, reading, running, and playing soccer.
