There are two types of surgical procedures for hair transplants Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). Both procedures are fairly comfortable. Most doctors give sedation during the procedure and in my experience, many of my patients only want Tylenol after the procedure even when offered something more for pain like Lortab. With FUT, many patients describe the sutures to be “itchy” and a “tight” sensation, but not painful and they only stay on 7-10 days, with patients finding relief as soon as they are removed.

There are two methods to remove the grafts Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Each involve different techniques. I’m not sure which procedure you intend to have done but you can find further information on each techinique I mentioned above on google.
