Hair Transplant Techniques: FUE & FUT
Dr. Arslan is a Hair Transplant surgeon who has been practicing in Turkey for more than 13 years. He is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery’ and performs procedures at his practice Hairmedico.
FUE Hair Transplant Technique
The principle of the FUE (Extraction Follicular Units) Hair transplant technique is to remove the capillary stem (graft) one by one with a micro circular motor with a very fine diameter of 0.7 to 0.9 mm, depending on the quality and size of your follicles. Shaving the donor area is mandatory for the extraction of the follicles. Shaving the recipient area is also necessary for better accuracy and good hair transplant results. A drawing and planning of the intervention is made before the operation to cover almost the entire alopecia area.
The donor area (hair on the back of the head genetically coded to never fall out) is the very large sampling area possible.
The advantage of this technique is that there is no suture and no scar area after the surgery. The spots on the donor area where the extraction was performed becomes almost invisible after a few months and can allow a second hair transplant after 6 months to a year later.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and lasts between 5 to 8 hours depending on the baldness level.
FUT Hair Transplant Technique
The principle of the FUT Hair transplant technique or Strip Technique, consists in removing by a surgical procedure a strip of the scalp located in the back area of the head (back area of the head with hair genetically coded so as never to fall out).
The hair is then extracted from this strip to be implanted in the baldness area.
The Technique FUT hair transplant, requires stitches and leaves a visible scar after the operation. The suture must be particularly careful because the risk of this technique is scar enlargement.
The healing time of the FUT hair transplant is longer than that of the FUE Hair Transplant.
