There are a few ways to stop GLP-1 therapy. There is no weaning necessary so it is ok to stop cold turkey. Being on a GLP-1 has likely changed your eating habits, given you more energy due to the weight loss, and increased your ability to exercise. If you stick to these new habits you will likely keep the weight off. If you go back to old habits, of course, the weight will return. Similar to when you go to the gym and gain muscle and lose weight. If you stop these habits, the weight will return and the muscles will weaken. If you don't use it - you lose it!

The other way is to go to a lower dose weekly. Your healthcare prescriber may choose to lower your weekly dose for maintenance. Lastly, while being aware of your prescription expiration date and at the direction of your prescriber, you can stretch out your injections for up to 2-3 weeks. Stretching them out allows you time to ease back into not taking them at all. Be mindful that at the higher doses, stretching them out too far may lead to you needing to start the dose over to avoid sickness from the medication. Always check with your prescriber before making any changes.
