Good afternoon,

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is considered a mild viral illness. It is, however, easily transmitted by saliva, nasal secretions and respiratory droplets such as from coughing or sneezing. The best prevention is to stay away from infected others. Personal hygiene is important, but difficult in little ones. The child care facility needs to have a protocol for keeping shared areas clean and regular/frequent hand washing.
