Undeniable Hope in the World of Fibromyalgia
New findings in fibromyalgia
Research on fibromyalgia is continuously being conducted in order to better understand the disease. Currently, doctors and specialists are creating unnecessary workups for patients, which could have little to no connection to the painful and chronic symptoms of FMS. This is due to the lack of awareness that is still surrounding the disease, even in the medical world. So, in order for the doctors to properly treat patients, new methods have to be developed to properly target areas where the disease typically affects.
One of the breakthroughs that researchers have already made is finding alternative methods when prescribing treatment for the disorder and attacking it with a different perspective in mind. According to recent research, one of the suspected causes of chronic pain could be neuroinflammation, or inflammation of the brain. While it has been proven by studying lab animals, it has yet to be proven with humans. However, a recent experiment done by Swedish scientists can prove neuroinflammation without dissecting human brains. To do this, they examined the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) around the brain and the spine. Since it is mostly in contact with the brain, it mirrors the conditions of the brain as well. Due to these recent findings, it paved the way in finding alternative and possible treatment methods and plans for patients in the future.
