When visiting, keep communication open, and assure the patient that you are flexible to stay or leave at any time. Be sure not to overstay your welcome and turn your company into a burden of entertaining. If the time feels like it is naturally coming to a close, take that opportunity and allow as much normalcy and comfort in the relationship to come through. Offer to come back another time if things don’t work out right away.
