These Celebrity Athletes Have Fought Crohn's Disease
Kevin Dineen
Professional Canadian ice hockey coach and former player Kevin Dineen has had his own battle with Crohn’s disease. For him, the disease taught him that a quick fix was not going to do the trick. Unfortunately, since Crohn’s disease often hits when people are younger, Dineen was affected at the beginning of his hockey career. After learning that this was a disease that required careful care and attention, Dineen was able to get control over the disease and play another 16 years in the National Hockey League. Now he is an assistant coach for the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks. He now speaks openly about his Crohn’s to raise awareness and let other people affected by the disease know that they can find a way through it.
