Meditation and other mindfulness techniques can help keep your negative thoughts and emotions at bay. Meditating is a great way to help center your thoughts and clear your head. There are multiple ways of meditating, but a simple one is to take a few minutes out of your day to take a series of deep breaths. Try and really focus on the movement of your body when you breathe, and try to quiet your mind during this process. Your mind is bound to wander somewhat, but try and bring back your focus to the breathing whenever you can. This will improve your focus, calm you down, and quiet your thoughts.
