Rheumatoid Arthritis: The Year in Review
It's about more than the diagnosis
The study showed that it was not only an early diagnosis that improved patient's health, it was also imperative that they begin synthetic disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (sMARDs) within 6 months of the first sign of symptoms. This may not seem groundbreaking, but having evidence that earlier treatments reduce progression of the disease makes it that much clearer how important it is for anyone who seemingly has symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis to see a doctor as soon as possible.
