Child's Pose
How to Do the Pose
Child’s pose is attained by kneeling, leaning weight back on the backs of the shins, and then leaning the top part of the body forward until the forehead touches the ground. If this is not attainable, feel free to prop the head up with stacked hands underneath the forehead. Breathe in deeply, trying to fill the back with air. Use the breath to get into the tight spaces in the back of the body.
Why Do the Pose?
Child’s pose enables the person to center themselves and quiet the mind. Because the head is down, the stimuli that may normally distract (consciously or subconsciously) a person are no longer an issue. This allows the person to focus entirely on the movement of their breath.
