Yoga for Fibromyalgia Patients
Legs-Up-The-Wall Pose
How to Do the Pose
Lay down with the legs leaning up against a wall. The legs should be straight up against the wall, although if there is some space or some bending of the knee, that is fine. It is important to do what feels comfortable. Continue to focus on breathing and try to focus on filling up the lungs and pushing the air out entirely. If this is too challenging, feel free to use a blanket or a pillow as a bolster.
Why Do the Pose?
This pose is especially gentle, allowing people to exercise even when they are in pain. Additionally, this is the inversion of how people normally stand, allowing the blood to flow to switch directions, which reduces swelling and improves fatigue. This stretch additionally allows the hips and legs to relax.
