If it’s related to a virus most cases improve in 4 to 6 weeks, any chest pain, shortness of breath, leg swelling or new signs and symptoms not well explained should seek cardiology care.
There is no specific therapy for the myocarditis that had been accepted therapy that has improved outcomes. Treatment is supportive treating for heart failure and chest pain with ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, diuretics and no steroidals.
She needs to see a cardiologist. Treatment can vary depending on the severity of the inflammation. Rest is certainly an important component to healing.
