Ambien CR withdrawal?

So, my doctor retired and the NP that is taking his cases over would not renew my Ambien. I get that but she put me on Belsomra. Doesn't she know that you can't just QUIT the medication and that it takes a reduced dosage over time to get off of it? I had severe sleep issues after my hysterectomy. My doctor tried numerous sleep aids and the only one that worked was Ambien. What can I tell this NP? She truly doesn't get it.

Actually a study has been done with Dayvigo, immediately taking people off Ambien and putting on Dayvigo. Approximately 70 to 80% of the patients were successful in this transition. Belsomra and Dayvigo are both Duel Orexin Receptor Antagonist.
