Psychologist Questions Sleep Medicine Specialist

Why do I feel this pressure and heaviness when trying to sleep?

I know this might be normal or due to stress but I didn’t have stress so it’s probably normal. I try falling asleep and I felt pressured and couldn’t move and I felt someone hugging me with the pressure of their body but I’m alone in the room.

It is called sleep paralysis. It's an aspect of the falling asleep phenomena. It should go away.

Sometimes when we are internally stressed and anxious, but don’t have the actual symptoms of stress/anxiety, it could manifest itself like this. If you keep good sleep hygiene and practice some deep breathing and meditation before sleep, it may help.
